It’s STILL cold. I guess that’s no surprise give where I live.
Alaska. Right then. It’s winter so it’s not a surprise. ANYWAY.
Russian Tea is one of the best ways to warm up and settle down. Almost every single kid who grew up here has had Russian Tea whether in scouting, camping with their class in elementary school, ice fishing with friends, after sledding or any other time they needed to warm up. It’s spicy, warm, and a little tangy (lol), with a slight kick of caffeine to keep us all running to get through the day.
I’ve published the full recipe here on Substack before but JUST in case you didn’t catch the video on social media. OR see the full recipe here I thought I’d just share the video AND the video TOGETHER here.
RUSSIAN TEA
makes several cups of tea mix
time to make the mix about 15 minutes
time to make a cup of tea 5-10 minutes
Ingredients:
2 cups Tang powder mix
3/4 cup Lipton Instant Iced Tea with Lemon (this version is sweetened and has lemon in it, unlike older versions so you don’t need to add any sugar.)
1 tsp cinnamon
To Make The Mix:
add the ingredients to a mixing bowl
whisk to combine completely
pour into an air-tight container
store in a dry place, no need to refrigerate
To Make A Cup Of Russian Tea:
heat water
add 2 teaspoons, or more of the tea mix to a cup or mug
pour hot water into the mug and stir to combine
taste and add more mix if desired
I like mine stronger made with more mix and my husband prefers his weaker and less flavorful. Both ways are enjoyable. You should experiment with more or less of the mix
Make the mix ahead of time and divide it up into cleans recycled jars with lids. Put them in the pantry and you’re ready for any cold weather days you’re about to experience.
Give Russian Tea as a gift. It’s simple to make and everyone loves it. Even people who’ve never had it will almost always immediately love it. It’s that good.
Cheers,
Laura
